Mountain Moments Open House - Saturdays at 1:30

The Stark Mountain Foundation hosts "Mountain Moments" every Saturday throughout the ski season in the Kent Thomas Nature Center.  MRG's on-staff naturalist will be on hand to answer questions and expose visitors to teh wildlife and ecosystems on the mountain. Ski on in or snowshoe  up to the Nature Center, you'll be glad you did!

Lawson's Finest Beer Lover's Dinner and Full Moon Snowshoe

February 14, 2014
Join brewer and MRG Naturalist Sean Lawson for a hearty buffet dinner and cash bar with three varieties of Lawson’s Finest beer followed by a Naturalist slide show. Embark on a full moon snowshoe ramble before dinner at 6:30PM to make the evening complete! The dinner features chef Michael Witzel’s famous beef stew made with Lawson’s maple imperial stout and locally sourced ingredients (featured in Vermont Life magazine!), bread, salad, and dessert. Following dinner, MRG’s Naturalist Program presents “The Nature of Vermont” slide show with images and stories of the Green Mountain’s wildlife and flora in four seasons. Tickets for the dinner and slide show are $30 each and all proceeds benefit MRG’s Naturalist Program. Advanced tickets available at the MRG ticket office, or by calling 802-496-3551 x117 with a credit card. Sponsored by Lawson’s Finest Liquids.

December 26 to December 29, 2014- 10:30 AM
To us, December means holidays and sharing early season excitement with friends and family. But what about our wildlife counterparts? Join us this holiday week to discover what animals and trees are doing
this time of year, and how they have prepared for the long cold months ahead. Easy to moderate difficulty, all ages welcome.

 

President’s Week Naturalist Series - The Nature of February
February 15 to February 23, 2014 - 10:30 AM

It is the middle of ski season and a month away from the vernal equinox. During Presidents' week, join one of our daily naturalist programs and learn how the animals and plants of our northern hardwood forests are surviving at the height of winter. Easy to moderate difficulty, all ages welcome.`

 

Wolaver’s – Mad River Glen Backcountry Challenge! - March 22, 2014 -10:00 AM
This challenge pits you against the backcountry! This is not a race. There are no winners and no losers - only those who finish the course and those who don't. Choose your gear - telemark, snowshoe, or randonee - as you adventure through the rugged terrain of the Green Mountain spine. A raffle of aweso me prizes follows the challenge. Sponsored by Wolaver’s Organic Ales. Entry fee is $20 and all proceeds benefit that Naturalist Program.

 

 

Program Fees

  • Two hour programs
    • $25 adult
    • $15 junior
    • $65 for a family of four
  • Outbound Adventures
    • $50 per person (includes lunch, snowshoes, & transport.)
  • Tubbs Snowshoes are available in the Mad River Glen Rental Shop.
    • Snowshoe Rental with a Environmental Program – Only $5!
    • Snowshoe Trail Pass - $5
    • Snowshoe Trail Season Pass - $50
