Welcome to the Mad River Ski Club! Together with the Mad River Glen Cooperative, we are the Junior Race Program and a sanctioned United States Ski and Snowboard Association (USSA) club program! Under the leadership and guidance of Race Department Director and Ski Club Head Coach Jim Komarmi, our program encapsulates the history and values of Mad River Glen and a modern, competitive race program for children ages 6-15. Across all the age groups, the focus of the program is on developing fundamental skiing skills in a positive, fun, and exciting atmosphere that will promote a life-long love of skiing. Our athletes spend their time working on technique with experienced coaches and free skiing on Mad River’s famous terrain. Commitment to the program, ski club, race training and participation in scheduled races are important aspects of the overall experience. Along with developing skiing skills, the skiers will learn the positive aspects of competition, including: setting and pursuing goals, the value of hard work, teamwork and good sportsmanship. The program focuses on developing great skiers because great skiers become successful ski racers! Contact Race Director, Jim Komarmi, for more information about the MRG Ski Club. All race program participants are MRSC members through a family membership. Ski racing, while an individual sport from the start to the finish, shines when viewed from a team perspective. That team includes families, who are the heart of our club. Family membership, while required for athletes’ families, enables us to provide a professional and content-rich program for our athletes. Athletes also benefit from additional perks such as ImPact athlete concussion screening, discounts at equipment days and discounted training tickets at Sugarbush and Cochrans.
