
12th Annual Stark Mountain Hill Climb - Oct. 2, 2010
The
Stark Mountain Foundation, sponsor of many Environmental Programs, Erosion Control projects, the Kent Thomas Nature Center, Stark's Nest, and of course, the Single Chair Restoration announces the
12th annual Stark Mountain Hill Climb.
The Hill Climb begins on Green & Gold Weekend - at 10AM on Saturday, October 2, 2010 at the MRG Basebox. Registration starts at 9:00AM and costs $25, all of which is tax deductible and will be used to support the SMF's pledge to perpetually endow the maintenance of the section of the Long Trail between Stark's Nest and the App Gap. Pre-registration costs $20, and is available at
starkmountain.orgCompetitors run 2,000 vertical feet from the base of Mad River’s Single to the top of General Stark Mountain. Any route up is OK, but strategy is every bit as important as strength. There are awards for various ages for men and women. Dave Dunham owns the men’s record of 23:51:05 while Harriet Shea is the women’s record holder at 30:09. For more information about the run visit

DUATHLETS can also participate in the
9th Annual Allen Clark Memorial Hill Climb Bike Race on Sunday, October 3 at 10 AM. This race covers a 6.2 mile course from the intersection of Routes 100 and 17 to the top of Appalachian Gap. For more information about the Allen Clark Hill Climb visit
