12/10/2016 MRG's Ski Season Launch Party

Be sure to save the date of Saturday December 10th for Mad River Glen's launch of a new ski season.  Things will get started with an appearance from Santa Claus himself and kids will have the opportunity to sit with St. Nick's on the  Single Chair from 3-5 PM. Then folks can enjoy dinner and libations in General Stark's Pub. The evening will climax with a performance by The Grift, MRG's favorite apres ski band!

Featuring; Bonfire (bring x-mas trees and wood if you got it), Potluck Dinner (Families with last names starting in A to M bring Heavy Appetizers, Chili, Soups, Stew, etc -crockpots welcome, If your last name starts with N to Z please bring a Dessert), Flag Football in the snow (we hope!), Kids Movie upstairs and a torchlight parade! 01/16/2017 Mad River Glen Family Tournament

Mad River founder, Roland Palmedo, began what was then called The Father/Son Race at Stowe with his colleagues in 1947. In 1952 the event moved to his new ski area, Mad River Glen. Over the next 6 decades the event evolved, and become far more politically correct, into the Mad River Glen Family Tournament. Today this event, Mad River's most popular, goes far beyond the original Father/Son format. Categories include, Mother/Daughter, Mother/Father, Mother/Son, Father/Daughter, Grandmother/Grandson, Grandmother/Granddaughter, Grandfather/Grandson, Brother/Sister, Brother/Brother, Sister/Sister and of course the overall Family Winner. Ski Club racing has always been a fixture on the slopes of Gen. Stark Mountain. Mad River's founder Roland Palmedo also founded the Amateur Ski Club of NY and provided the land for an on-mountain house. Mountaintop Services   at 8 AM
Services will be conducted on the summit of General Stark's Mountain beginning at 8 AM. We will begin loading "Old Faithful" beginning at 7 AM. (The last ride up will be at 7:30!).

 

Easter Egg Hunt - 11 AM

This Mad River Glen tradition is, in fact, two separate Easter Egg Hunts; Slushwalkers: Kids 5 years and under search for eggs in the base area Lift Riders: Kids 6 to 12 search for eggs up on the hill. Meet on top of teh Sunnyside Double!

Easter Costume Parade At 1:30 PM

A Mad River Glen tradition for generations.  Skiers of all ages are invited to dress up for a parade around the base area. Prizes are awarded for Best Costume, Best Group, Most Humorous, Best Couple, Best Pair and the costume that show Best Mad River Glen Spirit.

 

Music & Fun on the Deck at Apres Ski from 3 to 7 PM
