Sugarbush Resort and Mad River Glen are kicking off the 2019 winter season on Saturday, November 17th. This kickoff is more significant this season as both mountains will be celebrating anniversaries this season, MRG’s 70th and Sugarbush’s 60th. Similar to years past, The Big Kicker will be held at American Flatbread at Lareau Farm in Waitsfield from 5:00 – 10:00 PM.
For the last eight years, the neighboring mountains have joined together to host a community-wide celebration of winter. Both Sugarbush and Mad River Glen ranked in the top ten Eastern resorts in SKI Magazine’s 2019 Resort Guide.
The evening begins at 5:00 PM in the pavilion at Lareau Farm. Hot cocoa, cider and local beer will be available, as well as flatbread pizza and s’mores by the fire. The event also brings free face painting, corn-hole, music and dancing.
At 7:00 PM, the resorts will share what’s planned for the upcoming season. Ski films will be shown.
The party will pick up around 8:00 PM with DJ Krusty Kutz and an open rail jam presented by Sugarbush Parks. This event typically attracts a large crowd of excited skiers and riders ready to celebrate the winter. Guests will finish out the night with dancing and a bonfire.
