“Socially Distant” Mad River Glen (Immediate) Family Tournament

Published On October 30, 2018

Mad River founder, Roland Palmedo, began what was then called, The Father/Son Race at Stowe with his colleagues in 1947. In 1952 the event moved to his new ski area, Mad River Glen. Over the next 5 decades, the event has evolved (and become more inclusive) into the Mad River Glen Family Tournament. This year, as with most things the Family Tournament will look a little different. Foremost it will be for immediate family members only, so no dragging Grandma and Grandpa out to the slopes this time around the sun. Categories will still include Father/Son, Mother/Daugther, Sibling/Sibling and the like. Additionally, racers will be allowed to “walk-up” to the start gate any time they choose to avoid crowds at the start and finish. Due to COVID-19 and the additional information needed including contact tracing, travel and quarantine attestation, we can not take registration over the phone – all signups will need to be online.
