Vermont will be experiencing a solar eclipse on April 8, 2024 and Mad River Glen is in the path of totality. A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes between Earth and the Sun, thereby obscuring the view of the Sun from a small part of the Earth, either totally or partially. A total eclipse, is when the Sun gets completely obscured by the Moon. During a total eclipse, the sky suddenly darkens and the Sun’s corona will be revealed. This is easily the most beautiful sight you will ever see in the sky! Be sure to use solar eclipse glasses while the Sun is not fully eclipsed. This solar eclipse has a southern terminus of (about) Barre, but even those south of Barre will be looking at about 95% blackout.
