Foundation Coordinator

Foundation Coordinator Founded in 2000, Stark Mountain Foundation (SMF), a charitable 501(c)(3) organization, promotes education, environmental conservation, historic preservation, and outdoor recreation to help preserve the unique and historic environment of General Stark Mountain in Fayston, Vermont. SMF partners with organizations including The Preservation Trust of Vermont, The Green Mountain Club, and Mad River Glen to achieve its mission.

Help fuel SMF’s growth and evolution by joining SMF in the integral role of Foundation Coordinator. Be a public face of SMF and collaborate with the board to orchestrate events and engage with SMF’s stakeholders. Report to the president of SMF’s board and assist SMF to achieve its goals and objectives and strengthen SMF’s brand within the community and the greater public.


Event Coordination Examples:

StorySki, Environmental Education, Donor Awareness, Fundraising

  • Plan, coordinate, and manage events including registrations, venues, food, and security
  • Event day setup, coordinating of volunteers, welcoming guests, supporting the event host, overseeing takedown
  • Event follow-up with attendees, thank-you notes, consolidate constituent data and feedback



  • Regularly update SMF’s website so that it is fresh and current
  • Draft content for monthly email campaigns and publicize events online and in the community
  • Support the process of donor recognition
  • Identify changes in the priorities and interests of the community by listening and eliciting feedback
  • Succinctly share the mission and vision of SMF with existing and prospective donors and partners to reinforce the brand


General Collaboration

  • Collaborate with the board to support governance of SMF; board meeting scheduling, reminders, minutes, parse action items into collaboration tools
  • Build relationships with grant recipients to identify and track progress, share wins, identify issues, and communicate updates to key stakeholders
  • Support branding and awareness within our community and amongst stakeholders
  • Research funding sources, contribute to the development of fund-raising plans and write funding proposals to increase the funds of the organization
  • Other duties as assigned


Skills and Experience

  • Managing projects
  • Marketing and public relations using social media and public relations
  • Using Web applications including customer and/or donor relationship management systems, e-mail, Excel, Word and Google Apps
  • Strong expositive writing skills

  • Superior and timely verbal and written communication
  • Knowledge of the community (challenges and opportunities as they relate to SMF’s mission)
  • Passionate about SMF’s mission
  • Organized — Set priorities, monitor progress toward goals, create and implement action plans, and evaluate and report the process and results
  • Enjoys multi-season active participation in the amenities of General Stark Mountain
  • Regionally located near the Mad River Valley; work from home with flexible hours
  • Attend events and meetings including occasional nights and weekend


Compensation and Benefits

  • Independent contractor status, average 15 hours/week, the actual time required will vary seasonally
  • Compensation based on experience: $25 – $29 / hour
  • Thirty hours of paid vacation per year
  • Mad River Glen Season Pass
