Mad River Today

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!

We saw another skim coat of new snow overnight that has embellished the 12-20” we picked up since Thursday. The mountain has been resuscitated and  the skiing is most pleasurable indeed.  So now the conundrum… Great skiing? Yes for sure but… it’s a tad nippy out there this morning. Do we dare go skiing?  The answer is YES!   First off we have mostly sweet packed powder conditions which have been hard to come by to date so you really ought to come out and get some while it’s good.  Secondly you have all that fancy gear in your closet -  why not give it a real test against the “polar vortex”. Plus, the light skier traffic over the last couple days has left the mountain well preserved  and there are many great turns to be had all over the hill. We especially recommend  checking out the Sunnyside Double side  of the hill where folks have been raving about the conditions over there plus the lift ride is a smidgen shorter! Overnight the grooming fleet stormed the hill once again laying down the corduroy carpet on a handful of the greens and blues. There is a windchill advisory out there today so be sure to bundle up, make sure there’s no exposed skin and come on out for a great day of skiing! We’ll  be here to keep the fire stoked, the soup warm, General Stark’s Pub stocked and the hot chocolate well...hot. And don’t forget that the General Store has all those little extras to keep you toasty on a day like today! Today and for the entire holiday period we plan to spin all 5 lifts accessing nearly all of our legendary trails from 8:30 AM until 4 PM.

Since we have had such a tough start to our season and our skiers have been so incredibly patient we want to make Midweek and Value Passes valid this weekend. Thanks for your resolve and lets all hope that we have finally turned the corner on the ski season and we can look forward to the best half a season ever!
