361 Bundy Road, Waitsfield, VT 05673
The Bundy Modern, built in 1962 as an art and sculpture gallery, was conceived to be in harmony with its surroundings in nature and to bring the outdoors in through the use of walls of glass. Set on a plateau with mountain views, the Bundy was designed in the Bauhaus style by Harvard GSD architect, Harlow Carpenter. The original mission: to offer a space for modern and contemporary artists and sculptors to show their work within a setting of serene rural beauty, while offering the public an unusually pure example of modern architecture for inspiration and study. Today we build on the original mission by offering an intersectional view of the arts inclusive of modern, contemporary and industrial art, design, craft and furniture. We will achieve this by working with curators deeply knowledgeable in their field who will bring a fresh vision to the space.

Guided quarry tour The guided quarry tour takes you to an overlook of the Smith Quarry. At nearly 600 feet deep, it is the largest operating deep-hole, dimension granite quarry in the world. The tour is approximately 40 minutes in length and typically runs rain or shine. Please note that quarriers work Monday-Friday, 7-3:30, except for holidays and associated days, and therefore, there are no workers in the quarry for the tours on Saturdays. Self-guided factory tour: Experiencing a 160,000 square-foot factory from an observation deck is not to be missed. The factory is an exercise in contrasts, combining the new with the old. You can see artisans using hand tools in much the same way as Michelangelo did centuries ago. These little-changed, artistic endeavors are mingled with computer-guided, diamond-tipped saws and precision grinders.
