Our goal is to infuse our programs with fun and knowledge of safety while teaching techniques that will allow your child to improve his/her ability. Our commitment to a small instructor/student ratio allows the children who participate in our program to not only have fun and become awesome skiers but develop a strong sense of camaraderie while developing lasting mountain friendships.

Children ages 4 to 12 who are learning to ski for the first time.
This program is for children who have never skied before or need a refresher on fundamental skills. This program has a small instructor/student ratio (usually 1:4) so your child can get the attention they need to be “mountain ready” as quickly as possible. We do not take kids up the mountain until they can turn, stop and get up on their own.
Supervised lunch programs will be offered for Rockin’ Robins at an additional cost, more information below…
Ages 4 to 6 years old
This program is for children who can ride the Sunnyside Double Lift. There are several levels of Chipmunks *(see levels below) based on the terrain they feel comfortable on. We focus on safety, fun, adventure, skill development and group dynamics. This program has a low instructor/student ratio (usually 1:8).
The Chipmunks are divided into different groups according to ability.
GREEN: Your child can stop, link turns, and skis primarily in a wedge.
BLUE: Your child skis primarily in a wide track parallel on blue and green marked trails and reverts to a wedge on steeper terrain.
PURPLE: Your child skis primarily in a dynamic parallel on blue and green trails and in a wide track parallel on black diamond trails.
Supervised lunch programs will be offered for Chipmunks at an additional cost, more information below…

Ages 7 to 15 years old
This program is for skiers who are skiing most trails in a relatively dynamic parallel ski relationship. They will work on mountain skills such as bumps, trees, steeps and carving. This group needs to be self-sufficient; they will need to be able to get lunch on their own, go to the bathroom alone, and be capable of finding their parents on their own after program ends. They must be able to ride all lifts (including the Single Chair) without an adult or assistance. The Development Team is excellent preparation for the Freeski and Race Team programs and also provides a formal path to becoming a Junior Instructor, mountain guide or Ski Patroller.
Ages 10 to 18 years old
The Mad River Glen Freeski Team is designed for skiers ages 10 to 18 who want to improve their all-mountain skiing, bringing their talents to the next level. Team members will work daily on bumps, jumps, steeps, cliffs and trees in various snow conditions. The team also has a strong focus on mental skills development such as goal setting, teamwork, concentration, perseverance, and sportsmanship.
In order to ski with the Freeski program athletes have to be skiing in a dynamic parallel on ALL terrain. Athletes must be able to ski all of Mad River Glen’s terrain safely and confidently, they must also be able to self-arrest and recover their own gear after a fall. This group needs to be self-sufficient; they need to be able to get lunch on their own, go to the bathroom alone, and be able to find their parents on their own after training. Freeski Team athletes must be able to ride all the lifts (including the Single Chair) without an adult. Full-season training and travel to competitions will require athletes to be self-sufficient and possess the ability to manage their time effectively at home and while visiting other resorts.
NOT Included in the program fee: MRG season pass, MRSC membership, IFSA membership (required for competition), competition fees, lift tickets, lodging, and transportation costs related to competitions.
