Stark’s Pub offers a one-of-a-kind family dining experience you won’t find anywhere else in the Mad River Valley. The Pub is open daily during the winter from 11:00 AM to 5:30 PM—whenever the mountain is open for skiing. In the off-season Stark’s Pub is open from Memorial Day through peak foliage in October with dinner service Wednesday through Saturday from 4:30 to 8:30 PM.
In the warmer months, enjoy stunning mountain views while dining al fresco on the deck or from the comfort of our cozy indoor seating. The atmosphere is relaxed and family-friendly, with yard games for the kids, scenic hiking trails just steps away, and a babbling brook to complete the setting.
Whether you’re winding down after a day on the slopes or hiking in the Green Mountains, Stark’s Pub is the perfect spot to refuel and reconnect. Don’t miss our free live music performances—après-ski in the winter and on Wednesday evenings during the summer.
We love dogs just as much as you do—but to keep things clean, comfortable and safe for all our guests and employees, we’re no longer allowing dogs in our food service area (inside the Basebox and on the deck), including emotional support animals. Service animals trained to aid a person with a disability are still welcome, as required by law. Dogs are still welcome in the base area but they must be on a leash and under your control (not tethered to any fixed point). Thanks for your understanding and cooperation to help us keep the space clean, safe and enjoyable for everyone.
A special thanks to our friends at Lawson’s Finest Liquids for helping us support local artists and keep the good vibes going all year long at Stark’s Pub.

In Stark’s Pub, you will also find the “Wall of Fame” where photos of Mad River Glen’s iconic Ski It If You Can bumper stickers from around the world are proudly displayed. Stark’s Pub has been recognized as one of the World’s Top Après Ski Bars by Men’s Journal Magazine.

General John Stark, (August 28, 1728 – May 8, 1822) is the namesake for the pub and mountain that is home to Mad River Glen. The General was a New Hampshire native who served as an officer in the British Army during the French and Indian War and a major general in the Continental Army during the American Revolution. He became widely known as the “Hero of Bennington” for his exemplary service at the Battle of Bennington in 1777. The General is well known for coining New Hampshire’s motto; “Live Free or Die”. The phrase was adopted from a toast written by the General on July 31, 1809. Poor health forced Stark to decline an invitation to an anniversary reunion of the Battle of Bennington. Instead, he sent his legendary toast by letter:
Live free or die: Death is not the worst of evils.
