On Wednesday, May 5th, Lawson’s Finest Liquids and Mad River Glen presented the Stark Mountain Foundation with donation checks from sales of Still Single IPA. The checks, totaling over $7,000 represented proceeds from the sale of Still Single IPA at General Stark’s Pub and Lawson’s Finest Liquids flagship brewery in Waitsfield. For each 4-pack sold this past winter both Mad River Glen and Lawson’s Finest Liquids donated $2 to the Stark Mountain Foundation.
Still Single IPA was created in a collaborative effort between Mad River Glen and Lawson’s Finest Liquids as part of Lawson’s Social Impact Program (SIP), and the Good Brews for a Cause initiative; focused on creating special limited release beers that are specifically brewed to raise funds for important causes. The Lawson’s Finest Social Impact Program (SIP) supports the people and places that make living in Vermont special and viable. Through charitable giving, one of the SIP’s goals is to support strong and thriving communities while also protecting our natural resources.
The mission of the Stark Mountian Foundation is to preserve and protect the environment and ecosystem of General Stark Mountain, including its recreational access and historic value, and to support programs and sustain that environment for the enjoyment of present and future generations. The Stark Mountain Foundation provides a way for people to help ensure that the objectives “to preserve and protect” this experience and place are achieved, and to demonstrate that a sustainable and successful model for outdoor recreation can be based in an environmental experience and challenge, and not in the exploitation and homogenization of our ancient mountains. Founded in 2000, The Stark Mountain Foundation (SMF) is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) charitable organization based in Waitsfield, VT.
SMF President Jim Elkind says, “The generosity of these Mad River Valley institutions will help the Stark Mountain Foundation to fulfill its mission of protecting the environment and cultivating a greater understanding of the ecology and history of General Stark Mountain. Many thanks for your generous gift from the proceeds of the Cooperative’s sales of Lawson’s Still Single IPA. On behalf of the SMF board, I wish to express our deepest appreciation and gratitude.”
